Global warming is when earth’s temperature increases gradually over time. When the temperature rises it causes ice glaciers such as in Greenland to melt over a period of time. They were the first to drill core samples of ice to study the earth’s climate. According to William Colgan, a climate and glacier scientist from the Lassonde school of engineering at Toronto’s York University states, that till this day their work from the camp is still being used. Also, William Colgan mentions that he believes that the camp was used to cover for something bigger because they kept the project a big secret that the Danish government had no idea the camp existed. Back then people did not believe in climate change, so they thought by creating a camp under ice would be a good idea to serve as a cover up to whatever they were trying to hide. However, that is not true. The earth climate has been changing and we are seeing an increase of temperature rising. Some of the things that were left behind at the camp were biological, chemical and radioactive waste. In which they believe it would be “preserved for eternity” by the snow and ice. Furthermore, researchers have been studying the US army documents and drawing and have found that the camp has about 200,000 litres of diesel fuel as well as waste water and unknown amounts of radioactive coolant and toxic organic pollutants.
