Project Egg Launch Analysis

Superior Essays
Project Egg Launch is designed for K-12 students. The project includes many features to help students understand the principles of engineering design while increasing their awareness towards applying basic physics concepts. In addition, the students are given an kinesthetic way of learning by the hands-on experience of building an egg enclosure. Project Egg Launch is a project that students will enjoy and get the chance to actively problem solve and build. Team 6-1 has the plan to get students interested in an engineering related field. Once the student understands the parameters of the competition, the students may express their ideas in various ways using the supplies that are given.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis has been included, and a SWOT diagram is included in Appendix A in order to better understand the concepts of the Project Egg Launch.

Project Egg Launch counts a few strengths among its benefits. In addition to being a fun and easy way for students to learn, the project utilizes non-toxic and reusable materials. The costliest components are the wood and brackets needed for the catapult, which can be reused many times. The lesson can be custom tailored to students at different levels to satisfy requirements, it is easy to clean-up, and simple to demonstrate.

Additionally, there are some opportunities teachers may be able to use to their advantage. The materials needed for the students are relatively simple. Students can use items that are around the classroom such as paper and tape. If additional supplies such as duct tape, bags, or sticks are wanted they can be used as well. Students are able to build something and watch the outcome of their enclosure after the enclosure with the egg are launched. Further, by having students in groups of 3-4 students are able to collaborate together and create the best idea. The students are able to work in groups and practice working in

The topic I chose for my science fair project is: Which Saxophone Reeds are the Loudest? I chose this project because my cousin did this project a couple years ago and it inspired me to try for myself. I did not ever hear his final result about which reeds ended up being the loudest. I did hear some of the different materials and strengths of the reeds that he used and I chose more strengths of reeds than he did. There are three important facts about reeds.…

The materials given were three raw chicken eggs, vinegar, maple syrup, tap water, and table salt. Prior to beginning the experiment, the raw chicken eggs were saturated in vinegar for two days, in order to remove the outer shell. Also before beginning the experiment, the mass of the glass dish was obtained, via a triple beam balance, for measuring/zeroing purposes. On the day of the experiment, the three raw eggs were removed from their vinegar bath and rinsed under a stream of tap water, running from a faucet. After rinsing, each egg was patted dry, placed in a glass dish, and measured b y a triple beam balance, in order to obtain the initial mass of the egg.…

    Physics Egg Drop Project

The egg drop project we did involved many physics principles. One of them was air resistance, which happened because the egg dropped and it accelerated, while the velocity increased. Then the resistance of the air to the egg box motion also increased, which means the upward force of air resistance balances the downward force of gravity, so the egg box dropped at a constant speed. We attached balloons to the box we made in order for the box to pass through the air while softly landing. We believe that by attaching the balloons it would have less air resistance so the box will fall quickly.…

Building bottle rockets can be a fun and learning experience, as many students at UCAS found out. There were many things to test, and many interesting aspects of the rocket. Three main features of the “Mission to Mars” are how to construct the rocket, rocket performance, and physics of the rocket. When these items are viewed, it is evident that students can see the effects of physics in real life problems. And by doing so become more intelligent as teenagers want to learn more, and have fun doing so.…

Thank you all for coming to our Sacred Hearts 7th grade classroom to teach us the history of Barnstorming and Bernoulli's Principle and Newton's Third Law Of Motion through scientific experiments/demonstrations. Now I know how lift is generated for a plane and how hard it is to control an airplane wing through changing wind conditions. Your guys visit has made me more aware and knowledgeable of how an airplane flies and how Bernoulli's Principle and Newton's Third Law of Motion is a big part of the plane being able to move. During your guys barnstorming visit I learned some cool experiments that you guys demonstrated to represent Bernoulli's Principle. I really enjoyed controlling the airplane wing with Jordyn and trying to blow out the ping…

A good portion of the beginning of the school year in my classroom was spent on lab safety rules and procedure. I made it a priority to spend a lot of time reviewing lab safety they have had prior to seventh grade and what I wanted them to know for this year. We spent two days the first week of school learning and reviewing lab safety rules and procedures. Each student was read and shown an official list of lab safety rules that apply to seventh grade science. Each of the rules and procedure was demonstrated through scenarios that students might come across in a lab situation.…
