As I walked into the movie theatre intending on seeing "Project Alminac," my friends and I were stopped by an officer for looking "suspicious." We looked "suspicious" because the way we were dressed supposedly. I was only trying to have a good time with my friends but, this was the day my perception on police officers dramatically changed.
On a summer night six of my friends and I wanted to go see this new movie that just hit theatres. "Project Alminac," a movie that brought back it's characters in time to fix the past, but little did they know they were messing up reality. All of my friends and I head into the movie theatre with no problem. Keep this in mind we all have different type of clothing on but we have nothing on our shirts we are not sagging and we are just there to watch this really good movie. We get our tickets and head to the concessions to get some snack food. Next thing on our agenda was to head to theatre six. I still treat them with respect because that is just who I am, I treat everyone with respect. In this world today cops have been killing unarmed African American males for what reason. I don’t understand how innocent African Americans get killed because they look "suspicious" or they were "pulling something out of their pockets" so we shoot them anyway. I don't understand the police concept on that, and as American citizens we need to change the way how police are shooting innocent people and leaving them there cold blooded. I am not throwing all cops under the boat at all I am just saying some of these cops don't have the sense and just killing innocent people. This needs to be changed everywhere around the United States of America. We need to start fixing things immediately before things really get out of

Stop & Frisk The practice of stop and frisk first began with Terry vs. Ohio. The Fourth Amendment had long required that uniformed officers have probable cause in order to conduct Fourth Amendment invasions in order to administer a reasonable search and seizure. In 1968 the Warren Court, despite its liberal reputation lowered the standards that police officers had to meet. In order to conduct a certain type of search this is now known as “stop’ and ‘frisk.…

Policing in Canada has progressed since the Code of Hammurabi in 1200 BC. The first police force was founded, and organized by Sir Robert Peel, where he came up with nine principles that police officers should follow (Griffiths, 2015). One of these principles were that “police [should] maintain public favour by constantly demonstrating absolute impartial service, not by catering to public opinion” (Griffiths, 2015, p. 29). As a result, police officers should not be affected by the opinions of the power groups or the government. However, this is not the case.…

White people are automatically protected and given the benefit of the doubt when confronted by the police by having white privilege. White privilege works in our world in many ways; it provides white people with many advantages and immunity to challenges people of color face. The protection of whiteness shapes the world we live in and is not easily deconstructed in any system. For example, a person of color, especially a black person, is not guaranteed the same treatment by cops that are given to white people. In Philando Castile’s case, he did everything the officer asked of him.…

Growing up, people have shared stories about being pulled over by police for no apparent or obviously bogus reason. Typically, these stories came from African American males, who described their encounter as “Driving While Black” or “DWB.” These notions were dismissed because the police in our town are seen as the good cops, the ones who are not rude or inappropriate during stops. It did not become apparent that racial profiling is a very real issue until stories that have appeared in the news over the past couple of years. Racial profiling is a very prevalent problem is today’s society; this subjection is not only limited to African Americans, but those are the stories that we hear the most about in the news.…

Many argue that the program costs too much, it’s wasting our tax money, it’s not well supervised and it’s invading the public 's privacy. Also, multiple sheriffs are trying to argue that their police department doesn’t have enough financial stability to spend on body cameras. Another factor is not just buying body cameras for each police department, but storing each video footage is one of the big problems for camera manufacturers (Kaste, 2015). Out of 18,000 only 7,000 sheriff agencies adopted of wearing body cameras. For Sheriff Ricky Adam of Hancock County, “We haven’t been able to buy a new patrol car going on four years,” Adam says.…

Those are the a few people who have a more compassionate view of justice and with all the hate going around, a little compassion would be refreshing. Hate as primitive as racial profiling and stereotypes. Despite what is seen on social media, not every police officer is racist or abuses their power. Not every black guy from the city is a thug and not every white person from the south is a hick. Unfortunately, these are the typical stereotypes in society that are believed so heavily that people once again feel justification for hatful actions towards one another.…
