Project 1 Reflective Essay

The fourth learning outcome that students must hone in this course is the knowledge of conventions in writing. In order for one's work to be appropriate for the audience, each convention of writing is crucial to utilize. These knowledge of conventions helped improve my personal work since grammar tends to be my weak spot. My grammar, spelling and punctuation was all carefully minded to and over analyzed in order to perfect my end product. These assignments helped me sharpen my skills and better structure my sentences in order to appeal to my audience. This course had helped me develop and appropriate structure and sense of flow within my writing.

The requirement to have Project #1 in APA format led me to believe that a number of common formats can be applied depending on the type of text. Before this course I had

Each project required its own specific tone that was appropriate for the style of writing. Project #1 required me to create a persuasive paper, taking a stance on a debatable topic and persuading the audience to take my side because it's the right one. Since Project #1 is a serious persuasive research paper, the tone had to the same during the writing. Each paragraph in the paper included one or two citations in order to back my findings and position on the topic. The target audience for Project #1 are anyone and everyone who lives in the U.S. and all those who use emails, text, calls or the internet on a daily basis. In order to appeal to a large demographic like this, I had to make this a formal tone that educates and shows hard facts to the reader. Project #2 called for a different tone due to the different audience and writing style. My target audience were all the residents in Las Vegas, I tried using a more personal approach and used references from prior similar events and daily statistics here in
