Industrialization started as a way to provide jobs to many Americans unfortunately it led to harsh working conditions, low wages, and mistreatment in factories. Workers decided to join unions that supported them to fight back to the big corporations with strikes to eventually decrease the gap between classes. The main goals of the Progressive Movement was to create a society where a democracy makes decisions based on the well being of the people, regulation of corporations and monopolies, improve the lifestyles of Americans, and gain social justice. Progressivism began by social groups led by women, but slowly extended to all Americans. Quickly the movement expanded with Republicans, Muckrakers, Democrats, well-educated, middle-class, and poor people. Progressivism was successful by addressing many problems in society with passing laws, amendments, and reforms supporting common people and regulating big businesses. Though Progressivism seems like a great movement for everyone in society it failed to include African American reform and racial
