Colleges do make a profit off athletes, so it would be fair to pay athletes a percentage of the profits. Athlete’s pay would only come from sports program profits, and shouldn’t be taken from tuition and other university programs. This way taking school funds would have minimal effect on other school programs, and regular students are minimally affected. Larger and more successful college teams make more money so pay would vary for the athletes as well. A successful sports team will increase attention to the university, making huge publicity for the school. Athletes at more successful programs help generate more profit for their universities because they maximizing advertising revenue. Often they are part of their university’s advertising campaigns.
