Decent Essays
I have become more proficient in my study skills because I have been paying more and more attention to the things we are learning in class. The classes that I have been doing well on I used to think that they were hard because I never did understand them in the beginning of the year I had trouble understanding and paying attention in the classes. Now the classes seem easy to me because I now know what to do in the classes I might have trouble understanding one little thing but I don't give up and I just ask for help so I will be able to understand the work that we are getting in the class.

I interact with others by being nice and things like that we might be rude to each other from time to time but we do it for fun.I show respect by not saying

I personally enjoyed “Proficiency” by Shannon Nichols due to the fact that it exposes how inaccurate standardized tests can be. Unfortunately, these kinds of tests are very common and frequent in schools all over the united states, despite teacher’s and student’s disapproval of them. I’ve realized that the viewpoint is always the same; standardized tests are unreliable and should not be required. Instead of helping, they can affect students, or even teachers, negatively just like in Shannon’s case. It made her doubt her own strengths despite constantly receiving positive feedback from people she met on a day-to-day basis.…

Actually, I am still in the most challenging academic course I have taken to date, AP United States History (APUSH). APUSH has been difficult for me due to the fact that I had very little knowledge of US history preceding my enrollment in the class. Furthermore, prior to this class I had never really had to study extensively to maintain high marks. APUSH has been different. Having little knowledge of this material, I have had to spend much more time studying.…

The late and great George Washington is one of America’s greatest heroes. He was not only a great leader, but a great person as well. It seems that every person in the United States knows everything about Washington, however one thing many do not know is his “ Rules Of Civility and Decent Behavior. ” This is a list composed by Washington himself of one hundred and ten rules that are used as etiquette today. Three of the rules that I can relate most to my life are : do not express joy in front of someone in pain, always submit your judgment to others in modesty, and lastly, while you are talking don’t point your finger at them.…

I also knew it, but I was lazy and careless. I am thankful that I have grown up and that I have begun to respect all of the opportunities given to me in life. The areas that I have improved in are definitely my study habits, and not being afraid to ask my teachers for extra help. I used to be afraid that my teachers would think I am stupid, and that they would judge me if I admitted to them that I didn’t know how to do something, or that I couldn’t do a problem. But I have recently grown to realize the it is essential to the learning process to ask your teacher 's question.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

I have become more proficient in some of my classes because I have tried my best to keep up with the work, but I have also been really bad and had my grades down because I keep having health problems. I have missed a lot of school days and that has really affected my grades for all my classes. The days that I have been in class I end up putting my head down for the reason I don't feel good and I dont have the energy to do my work or to learn something new because as much as I try my head started hurting more. I think I haven't grown in my classes like I wanted to and that's something that is really stressing me a lot because I really don't want to repeat the grade I really want to pass my freshman year and go to the next grade.…

During my second year of college, I realized that my grades did not reflect the type of student I was. My grades at the time were not bad at all, but I just thought I could do so much than what I was doing. I was not really studying much and I was doing slightly more than the minimum amount of work needed. I decided it was time to change this method of work and start really pushing myself to become the student I know I am. One class I felt needed the most attention was my Law class.…

I take a lot of notes in most of my lectures so when I am studying for an exam I can see what topics the professor focused a lot on. This helps me see what main points I need to study and what minor points I can skim over. I used this skill on my last exam and it helped me get a better grade than I expected. Looking at the test questions for clues helps me understand what the question is focusing on so I can remember the exact topic and hopefully pick the correct answer. I have used this skill throughout high school and even in college.…
