Professor Roach offered several tips that I feel will help me stand out in a meet and greet situation. He made it clear that you never know whom you will meet and what type of deals could be made in these scenarios. As I start attending more of these events, I will definitely need to work on taking charge of conversations, finding connections with the individual, as well as how to sell my story and who I am. However, it is important to stay professional, be enthusiastic, and ask good questions. Paraphrasing and building off of the conversation you had is an important step in creating that solid relationship with the individual you are speaking with. This is something that does not come easy to me and that I will definitely need to work on in the near future. Professor Roach had us get to know the people around us and this was definitely an uncomfortable task for me. However, I learned a lot about the people that were sitting with me and feel like I was able to connect well with everyone. By practicing this, I feel like I will be able to learn to better express myself in a more unique way. By trying to go out of my way to meet people, I will be able to build my network as well as practice these skills that are key elements in connecting with employers and people at professional

The roles I strived to portray were just that of a quintessential freshman, still in the midst of trying to explore all of my options and future endeavors as a young adult. My non physical characteristics consisted of being rather shy, but also quite open minded and ready to listen to other’s stories. I used a relatively large amount of hand gestures to further explain myself and to come off more attentive in a hopeful attempt to make others engage and feel more at ease with the whole “speed dating” exercise we were presented with. These attitudes of seeming interested and accepting, in my opinion, are very important in the occasion of meeting new people so that they feel comfort in conversing with me. I believe if you seem open and amiable…

The person that I decided to interview is David Ellinger, who is my father, in addition to being a plumber for over 40 years and a plumbing business owner of over 29 years. Mr. Ellinger became the owner of his own plumbing company in 1986 and appropriately named his business, D.P. Ellinger Plumbing and Heating. I have always had dreams of owning my own business, which played a key point why I chose this to interview. Another key point on why I chose this individual to interview has to do with the fact that Mr. Ellinger’s business holds a great reputation that has continuously over the past decades, which he dedicates to the simple answer, work hard and stick to what you say you are going to do.…

When looking at the weaknesses of Remington College, the first weakness that must be evaluated is the small classroom size that offers its students the one on one teacher student connection as they move to on-line classes room settings. The reason that I say this is a weakness is that his connection could be lost in the on-line classroom environment leaving students to feel that the organization and its leadership is not connected with them as students (McHenry & McCall, 2014). The lack of connection in the school’s leadership is one that needs to be addressed by the direction as the program grows and focus on the needs of the students and staff (Werry, 2002). The leadership of the organization must ensure that the concerns of the students…

I need to make myself more approachable, friendly and initiating conversations with people who differ from me. Making a conscious effort to be aware of those, I do not generally interact with but at the same time not making it obvious I see a difference in their appearance. This can include patients from another culture by being culturally sensitive to their needs as a way providing quality care. The next strategy I can take is by overcoming my shyness and approach people from different cultures to form relationships or build a rapport. I need to watch someone with charisma to see how he or she interact with people and apply that to my personal situation.…

One of my biggest goals was to break my shell. Shyness had prohibited me from diverse experiences and making friends in high school, and I didn’t want it to stop me in college. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. Before my first semester started, I read books on body language, small talk, humor, and self-confidence. When my friends and I went hiking, to the mall, or to parties, I made myself talk to people I didn’t know.…
