Professor Flores Essay

Professor Flores, my US history 1302 instructor, was my first and toughest class. She is an excellent professor, yet a stressful class to handle. It all started back when I was a junior from United High School, our classroom teacher warned us that we might have a regular professor or a Doctor. “Please, don’t let it be the Doctor.” I wanted to have a regular professor, hoping that he/she will have fewer expectations since we are just high school students. A week passed by, It was a Tuesday and we ended up taking the class with a regular professor. It was a huge relief knowing that a Doctor was not going to lecture and grade us, however this professor was not afraid to show who she is. Like all teachers, they read the syllabus so that students get a better comprehension of what the class will be about. …show more content…
What did she mean by not passing? I have never failed a class during my high school years. I had a GPA of 3.7 during my junior year; I wanted higher and not lower. I felt overwhelmed deciding whether or not to stay. I looked through my benefits of taking this college course—it’s free, and either way I will have to take it once I enter college. Two weeks had passed, and I failed my first college quiz. It was a 45! My heart dropped, my face slowly turn red, and small tear drops fell into my quiz. My test was an oral written quiz, four questions out of five chapters from the book. Many failed, but that did not made me feel any better. According to the professor, it was our fault for not studying. I did study, all day and all night. I looked through the computer for websites that could teach every chapter in simpler terms because the college book was complex to read. I remember reading the first sentence; my dictionary became my best friend. I did not understand anything from the book. It has a lot of pages, high vocabulary, and small letters. Since that experience, I started to realize how high school is as easy as elementary

When we completed our tests we were allowed to leave, so when I finished mine I was out in a flash.…

To begin, there is an experiment done by Carlos Vallbona about magnets and pain relief with the question “Can the chronic pain experienced by post polio patients be relieved by magnetic fields applied directly over an identified trigger point?” There were a couple of questions concerning the study done by Vallbona, which included: Does the data support or refute the claim that active magnets relieve pain? What is known about population (the group the collected data is intended to describe), population parameters (a value calculated using all the data from the entire population), sample (a smaller subset of the entire population, ideally one that is fairly representative of the whole population), sample statistics, and bias (in favor or against something, unfair)? How representative is the data presented for determining whether magnets actually relieve pain? Is there anything that needs to be changed to make this study more representative and…
