Professionalism In Nursing

Why do students remember everything that is on television and forget what is taught in lecture? Students’ skills are best improved through practice, but before practice, observation is a key component to learning. For example, even if the students are given the steps on how to perform the return demonstration, they want to see the actual procedure to be more confident that they can accomplish it on their own. Students can use visual media as a way to retain concepts and ideas.

These are communication, empathetic, passionate, forthright, professional, respectful, knowledgeable, and thorough. These traits can be classified under the different concepts of Marilyn Anne Ray’s Theory of Bureaucratic Caring of 2010. The Social-Cultural Concept includes the traits of communication and empathetic, the Physical Concept includes the passionate trait, the Political Concept includes the trait of forthright, the Legal Concept includes the professional trait, the Spiritual-Ethical Concept includes the respectful trait, the Technological Concept includes the knowledgeable trait, and the Economic Concept includes the thorough trait. It is important for nursing students to learn the traits of professionalism and practice it early as it may strengthen the trust the public has in medical professionals.
The purpose of the study is to assess professionalism in viewing medical dramas according to these 8 traits in order to determine if watching medical dramas will be a good teaching tool for nursing students especially before entering a new area in their clinical
