Perjury is a false statement that a person makes under oath but does not believe to be true. In May 2016 in San Francisco, two police officers made a false police report on an innocent man. The police officers stated in the report that the individual was playing a dice game with friends then when he saw the police attempted to run away and he showed a weapon. However when it came to court there was a video camera across the street that saw everything and it showed police officers attacking the man who was not resisting and who was not trying to run away. The police officers signed a sworn statement of the events and completely lied on the document and in court during the testimony. The judge dropped all charges on the defendant and charged the officer with perjury. The San Francisco police department then released the officer from there agency. This is a prime example of unprofessionalism, in today’s world when cops are so hated it’s for reasons such as this. It’s so frustrating. There are so many good cops out there but then you got cops like these and these are the stories that are being released. When cops show this kind of unprofessional behavior it really puts a hurt on all police officers in the country because the public will start to believe that all police officers are liars and crooked …show more content…
Without these traits you don’t have a professional police officer. There are a lot of bad images out there on police officers in our world today and it’s because there are bad cops out there, however, there are also a lot of really great police officers out there as well. Unfortunately these aren’t the stories that get reported. The news is reporting a lot of the bad stories and it sucks. There are many cops out there that display these characteristics each and every day. Even though it’s exhausting and they put in over 50 hours a week usually and they are away from their family and friends, and they miss holidays, games, birthdays, and celebrations they are still out there on the streets helping people in their most stressful moments in their life. There are good cops out there arriving with the most professional attitude each and every call handling and taking care of business like they are supposed
