The role of a Professional School Counselor
Like any career, it is mandatory to understand the responsibilities of the position beforehand so you have an idea of what to expect while on the job. School counseling as a profession can seem like such an easy job to others, but what I’m learning the most is this career is very rewarding but you have to put forth a great deal of effort in order to have a successful outcome. I feel like the effort won’t feel so bad if you truly are passionate about your career. I’ve learned a lot about school counseling as a profession while doing this project and it made me realize how this is exactly what I want to do for a living. I want to be a change agent, be a leader, and help bridge the gap in communities. This paper consists of me exploring what the role of a professional school counselor means to me and learning what a day in a life of professional school counselor is like and reflecting on everything I learned.
