The most effective professional session that I attended was ten hour multiday training session on Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategies. These sessions were led by two Kagan coaches who presented their material to classroom teachers, specials teachers, and related service providers. This session was effective because the session leader provided activities that were engaging for everyone that was in attendance. The session leader also provided modeling of how to use the strategies. She also made sure that activities were specifically related to the different content fields of the teachers in the session. The final thing that made this session effective was that my school district provided multiple session dates that allowed the session leader

DJ Loerzel, Director, Accountability, and Data Reporting. This topic was on the board agenda to provide an overview of the District- and School-level Improvement/Performance Unified Improvement Plans. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) focuses on five big areas when it comes to UIPs: identifying critical performance challenges, identifying the root causes of these challenges, identifying major improvement strategies with a likelihood to eliminate the root causes, presenting an action plan for implementing the improvement strategies, and effectively monitoring the progress of the action plan. 36 individual schools in the Aurora Public School district submitted UIPs to the Colorado Department of Education; eight of those schools were approved for “Biennial Submission” and are not required to submit for the 2017-18 school year. Information included in the UIPs are driven by the unique circumstances and environment at each school.…

One of the most important thing I have learned in this course that has positively affected my confidence in my writing skills is the concept of writing a “shitty first draft”. In my midterm self-assessment, I discussed how I thought I was among one of the unlucky ones that was not blessed with natural writing skills. However, through class discussions, I’ve learned that one of the most important competent of professional writing is the need for constant revision. Contrary to popular believe, writing does not come easy to anyone. In order to successfully produce professional writing, it is important that one plan, draft, revise, and edit his or her work.…

I am a Student Paramedic with the East Of England Ambulance NHS Trust and this essay will look reflectively at an incident I attended during the course of my duties. The assignment will reflect on the moral, ethical and legal aspects of pre-hospital care that challenged me during this particular emergency. Reflective practice is a requirement of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, 2014). Rolfe, Freshwater and Jasper (2001) state, “we learn by doing and realising what came of what we did”.…

Assisting client- This week I worked on getting in contact with the pregnant women or those who have delivered within the last 3 months. I was able to get in touch with most of them and talked to them about what they need. One of the interns is working on her master degree in public health and she is working a project. She is trying to see if the immigrant’s community have a hard time accessing their culture food. She is looking for participants for her project so I am also researching out to these women and asking them if they would like to participate in the study.…

Reflecting back on how my personal learning network has grown throughout the variety of roles I have held in public education, this assignment has helped me to realize that social networking tools have played a much bigger role in my professional learning than I had originally thought. As a whole my network seems to be a balance between print, digital and face-to-face interactions. Currently, I am a member of ASCD and enjoy getting their monthly publications and do take time to read the quarterly books that are sent. Professional reading has always been an enjoyment for me and seems to guide my digital searches. I enjoy Pinterest and searching Google images to see how other educators are putting the ideas I have read about into practice.…

Moreover, Pre-professional is the first pillar of my interdisciplinary studies, with all of my classes being focused on exercise science. This discipline of study gives me the power to help others through the knowledge I acquired in class. On the issue of leadership, having the know how is the most important quality when it comes to coaching and therapy. Thus, the chosen classes in exercise science provide the know-how on coaching/leadership, human physiology, history, nutrition, psychology and human movement. Defying stereotypes, I learned the most important message from pre-professional class, being exercise is medicine.…

Thus far, I have learned many important aspects of becoming an effective therapist. One of the major parts of training involves evaluation and feedback from supervisors or peers. I think evaluations are an important part of training because it provides feedback to areas, which you are doing well in, and areas in which you will need improvement. I believe that without evaluations, we as therapist cannot grow into effective therapist. To date I cannot think of any job or career that does not use “end of the year evaluations”.…

Before this class, I had never been to a school board meeting and I decided to go back to the district where I went and to see how things are going since I have graduated. Since I went to a school that is in the class of 3A, it didn’t last as long as I would have compared to the bigger school district like those here in Topeka. I went to the meeting on November 13th and since they stick to the agenda so well it was over in about an hour and I stayed for the whole time, minus the tour of RHS. Since there are only four schools in the district, each year the school board visits each school for a meeting and goes on a “tour” after the meeting to see if anything needs to be changed in the future.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

For my lesson I have chosen the topic travel vocabulary due to its practical applicability and because I believe the words I am teaching can be easily explained with just a picture and are thusly easy enough for my beginner students to learn. Because the vocabulary is reasonably easy, the students can also get the sense of accomplishment, the lack of which can discourage further study. In relevance to this vocabulary I do not expect to have complications, but if they arise I believe they will either be cultural, in case I am teaching in a country where women don’t drive, or perhaps if the region is remote and the students don’t have access to mainstream media, they might not be familiar with airplanes or boats. The first problem I plan to conquer by informing the students that…

Introduction Throughout the past few weeks, communication in a fast food workplace was recorded and analysed. This report will summarise the experiences had and reflect on the interactions between multiple types of customers, co-workers and myself that occurred over the past work shifts. Summary These interactions all occurred in a fast food restaurant in the middle of a food court in a local shopping centre and usually only last up to 5 minutes when dealing with customers. Over the course of two 8-hour shifts on alternating weekends I came into contact with many different groups of people ranging in gender and age in my workplace, mainly my co-workers, different types of customers and my boss or manager.…

It is an unexpected challenge to consider the word professionalism as it pertains to a setting in which no employment resume has been reviewed, no bonuses are calculated and no promotion being sought. To answer the question, I will reflect on my own experiences as a professional and perhaps be able to draw salient comparisons between the two. I have 30 years’ experience in the workforce. At 22, I managed a popular restaurant on the campus of the local University. At 25, I wrote grants to the state of Tennessee for funding of a women’s halfway house.…
