Another reason for selecting this organization, is because it would be my dream job to be employed with them, yet I plan to continue working on a volunteer basis for them following the completion of my …show more content…

Self-Reflection 2 Eliut Lopez-Enriquez Millersville University Moral distress comes in many ways to many nurses. My moral distress situation came about when an unresponsive patient came to the emergency room and the family had a Do Not Resuscitate/Do Not Intubate paperwork. After verification of the paperwork and talks with the family, the team stood by to ensure the patient no further suffering and no further distress felt by the family.…

I felt the right approach to interview Alexis was to be myself.…

The writing process that has worked well for me has been what I learned in grade school. I usually complete my writing in phases. The first phase in my writing process would be the prewriting phase. During the prewriting phase I take the time to brainstorm, make any lists I will need and even draw pictures that describe what I would like to write about. This helps me to better focus on my organization structure of my paper as well as helping me showcase my ideas more successfully.…

Being a junior FCS student I have taken several courses that have piqued my interest. Some of which have been, FCS 100, where we learned about domestic violence, verbal and physical and sexual abuse. Another FCS 100 topic that interested me was teenage pregnancies and single parent families and how those children differ from two parent households. Another FCS class I highly enjoyed was FCS 380 where we discussed the many different childhood diseases and how these diagnoses effect their respective families (I.E. parents, siblings, grandparents). However, the one topic that always keeps my interest is Domestic Violence and Abuse.…

The first skill that was used to engage my client was using an open ended question at the beginning of my interview. According to Hohman (2002), “open-ended questions are those that have a variety of possible answers and do not limit the client” (p.20) using this strategy allows the client to explore his own thoughts and it encourages the client to do most of the talking. I started my conversation with my client by asking a simple open question for example “how was his day going ?” later I saw myself asking deeper questions such as “You mention that your brother is an alcoholic, how is your relationship with your brother?” this allowed me to listen to my client story in his own words and to keep the interviewing flowing.…
