Nursing is one of the fastest-growing professions in the United States. However, the American Nurses Association (ANA) predicted that the nursing shortage (NS) will strike to 1 million by the year 2020. In this essay, the student will describe the significance of the NS problem, discuss the effective nursing leadership and management( NLM) in practice. Address the communication and leadership (LS) style. Identify the advantages and disadvantages the different LS style. Compare and contrast the LS style and the solution to deal with the NS problem. NS is the imbalance of nurse supply and nurse demand (Huber,2014). Leaders and managers ( L& M ) through communication to bring teams together toward group objects. Also, the opinion and information are sent from person to person through communication . and it is a tool to the nurse L&M to achieve their work to meet the objects (Huber, 2014). Research has indicated that effective communication and interactions between health care providers and patients has a significant influence on patient satisfaction and outcome (O 'Hagan, et al., 2014). Effective communication is strengthened by open, direct, honest, and frequent message transmission. Empathy, Respect, and Trust are the three elements required to form and improve effective communication (Huber, 2014). Collecting connection interpersonal skills, involving the knowledge to communicate. NLM capability is carried on a facility for communication. In NLM, accomplished communication is crucial for effective implementation of the resolution process and achieve their goals (Huber, 2014). Communication processes vary among groups regarding the patterns and channels used and how open or closed the communication flow is. Each has positive and negative elements. There are situational and contextual circumstances to consider when picking a style. Styles should differ according to the suitability of the situation regarding an evaluation of the circumstances. The essential needs are for leader self-awareness and knowledge of the group 's ability and willingness levels before examining the situational elements and choosing an LS style. Self-awareness is crucial to strategically using LS styles. In addition
Flexibility is essential to Nursing L&M. For example, if a nurse prefers to operate in a democratic style yet suddenly a code situation occurs, then the nurse must rapidly switch from a democracy to an authoritarian style. Some Democratic leaders cannot vary their style sufficiently to handle crises. On the other hand, in a staff meeting, an authoritarian leader may be ineffective with a group of professionals and would need to be flexible enough to switch to a democratic or laissez-faire style, depending on.
Registered nurses with active LS skills should work positively to inspire others to enter the nursing profession. ANA should promote particular actions related to federal funding, nursing education, and hiring practices to assure and enough nursing workforce to meet the
