This fits in right with the mission statement itself, “committed to the empowerment of impoverished, oppressed, vulnerable, and underserved populations.” The program was an innovative to get students to help take a stance on their future and realize that they had one no matter where they came from. I realized my students were leaving Bright Futures with an ambition for college. Through out the time I was there my students were progressing in grades, leadership, and overall attitudes shifted to become the students we knew they could be. As women I may not be blessed with all the privileges like some other people, I am privileged in other ways. I have been lucky enough to receive an education, and this I believe will interfere with my life as social worker. My goal is to work with families and children and I know more often than not they will be from low socio-economic status. Going to college will be more of a dream then reality to most of them. Most of these families do not have the income to send all of their children to college. With the right support these children or parents can and will receive an education. I do not believe that I will give my goal from helping them give up that dream, because they too deserve to go. They deserve to have that privilege like anyone
