I am currently enrolled in a master’s program and the course I am taking requires me to create a professional development plan. Throughout this course “Professional Decision Making”, we have covered many topics that deal with education. This course requires you to research the full concept these topics, and understand how they are related to education, and how they benefit teachers. My main goal is to continue to be diverse and relate my lessons to all of my students, and make sure everyone feels accepted and included. We also covered many different theories and how to be professional at all times. The different theories tie into my philosophy of education that I will discuss below. There is much talk about dispositions and philosophies in education, and these two really go hand and hand. In one of the articles I read they gave the definition of disposition for teachers, which was “Professional attitudes, values, and beliefs demonstrated through both verbal and non-verbal behaviors as educators interact with students, families, colleagues, and communities (Hallam, 2009, pg. 27).
