American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is a professional association that provides training and certifications to individuals working or wanting to work in the business section of the health care field. Examples of the areas that the AAPC provides training and certification for is a medical biller or coder, medical auditors, compliance managers and practice managers. The cost in order to become a member of the AAPC if you are a student through the AAPC or a nonprofessional student is $110. For a regular individual, it cost $160. For an actual corporation, the cost is $950, with a $95 for each additional add on. There are no qualifications needed to join the AAPC as an individual. To join as a student or nonstudent, you have to be already enrolled in a certification program through the AAPC or a non AAPC school or course. For the corporate program, there has to be a minimum of 6 or more people joining at one time. According to” Why Join AAPC" (2017), other certifications that are offered besides the medical billing and coding certifications, consist of CPMA (Auditing), CDEO (medical documentation), CPCO (compliance) and CPPM (practice management). …show more content…
