Decent Essays
I think that soldiers should be payed more than professional athletes. I think this because soldiers deserve more money that professional athletes because they put their lives on the line for our freedom. Three reasons why are soldiers should get payed more are : put their lives on the line , have to leave their families for a long periods of time , and fight for our freedom . Therefore , soldiers should be payed more than professional athletes.

Soldiers put their lives on the line for our freedom. Soldier trainees train from 4 a.m. and end at 9 p.m. They aren't like athletes that can leave anytime or go anywhere when they please. Soldiers go by a protocol to make them into people who are kind and respectful . From personal experience

College athletics have gained immense popularity among Americans over the past few decades. This has resulted into increased in a lot of money for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the participating colleges, which has sparked the debate of whether college athletes should be given money beyond their athletic scholarships but I think they should get paid for the following reason they should be paid because without the players that risk injuries on the team the association would not make the money they do now and their coaches get paid but why not them and most importantly students after…

I believe that collegiate athletes should get payed for many different reasons. If college level athletes got payed they would most likely stay in school longer. Staying in school longer would led to more degree opportunities, which would equal more successful students and a higher success rate for the college. Students who aren’t athletes find time for jobs bringing in extra income, where athletes find it hard to make time for anything other than practicing and studying. If athletes in college were paid this would take a major financial burden of their backs, giving them having more time to focus on the studies and their abilities and not have to worry about how they are going to pay for their next meal.…

As each academic year goes by, fans of each team are able to enjoy another NCAA Basketball Tournament and football season. Most would agreeably say that the NCAA has competitive sports as popular as professional teams. College football and basketball make more than the NBA, nearly $6 billion every year. A free education is not enough if the NCAA wants to act as a money making business, and not reward the teammates that are making it profitable. If the NCAA does not want to pay college athletes, than it should not hold the players back from going into the professional league.…

Why Collegiate Athletes Should Not Be Paid The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) is a not-for profit organization, bringing in $912 million in revenue in 2015, nearly a billion dollars and has deals worth multi billion dollars with its broadcasting partners, Turner/CBS. These astronomical profits are what is leading some to call for collegiate athletes to be paid for their services for their collegiate teams in NCAA tournaments, the proponents of pay-for-play believe that players should be getting a piece of the pie as they are the main reason for why the NCAA is bringing in close to a billion dollars in revenue, most of it coming from broadcasting deals. Why college athletes should be paid In 2007 a collegiate football player, Stanley Doughty, gave up his senior year to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL and was signed to play for $400,000 for the next 2 years, but found out later that he had a cervical spine injury and he was one hit away from being paralyzed so he was cut by the Chiefs. He needed surgery for it but South Carolina, the college he went to, refused to pay for it even though these players make billions of dollars for their colleges every year (TheAtlantic). These colleges obviously just care about making money and using the players for their sake. If Doughty was able to receive some type of benefit for playing he would have been better off, but instead he has no college…

A lot of people would disagree with me when I say soldiers shouldn’t make more money than athletes, but i assure you I can turn them into believers. It would take too much money for the government to pay soldiers as much money as athletes are paid. Also anybody can sign up to be a soldier. It takes a lot of skill and dedication to be an athlete. Lastly if the government started giving people a lot of money everybody will want to join.…

I want the audience to honestly truly understands where I am coming from as a student athlete myself. As a student athlete each and every day I devote hours and hours of my time to my school.
