Firstly, the professional athletes we watch and admire, have dedicated their whole lives up to this point to play this sport for our entertainment. They have made many sacrifices to go to college and to play in the NBA, such as leave their family and go far away. They have put in countless hours of work, training, and hard work to get where they are. Secondly, the athletes need enough money to support themselves, their families, and pay off any debts or bills that they may have. Many athletes have post-career chronic health problems and health disorders due to the strain athletes constantly put on their body. It doesn’t help that the athletes tend to protract their careers to make more and win championships. Lastly, the athletes have suffered from brain damage and memory loss. The athletes have repeatedly been injured and that is not healthy for the human body. The athletes put their bodies on the line every day by risking brain injuries and other serious injuries. Most of the athletes use the money they don’t use and donate it to charities or help people with their struggles. These are the reasons why I think athletes are not overpaid.
Although athletes do all of these things, they do make a lot more money than the nurses, doctors, firefighters, and policemen. The athletes do have pretty big paychecks that can be a little too much. Millions of dollars is a lot of money. The reason for this is the athletes go to work everyday
