Professional 10 Year Plan

Improved Essays
Introduction In my young adulthood, I celebrate that I know what I want to accomplish out of my life. I’ve come this far and I have yet to reach where I want to be exactly. The most brilliant leaders work in silent, while there accomplishments do the talking. I live by this motto because all of my accomplishments reflect who I am currently. However, I cannot say that I’m done with myself yet because I’m still undergoing reconstruction. The strengths that I possess will assist me to get where I want to be professionally, but to get there, I also require more than just my own strengths. This paper will examine my professional 10-year plan that I have created, as well as identify any networks/relationships I make along the way.

I see myself waking up, looking into the mirror, and feeling accomplished that I’m where I want to be professionally. I already have an idea what I want my day to consist of and how’ll look while doing it. I’ll be dressed business casual, hair always comb, with comfortable flats or a short heel, and a coffee in my hand, if possible. I was always taught to dress exactly like your boss because it influences job performance, as well as how others perceive you. According to one of my top five Clifton StrengthsFinder themes I am focused individual, which basically means that my talents drive me (Rath & Conshie, 2008). One of my greatest talents includes sparing time to wake up early before work, or any occasion, and looking my best for that day. David Wallace Foster’s Kenyon College Commencement Speech is extremely successful for a multitude of reasons. It is not so much inspirational or revolutionary or epic, just simply honest. His speech is blunt about what people will face in their life after education. That adult life is boring, repetitive, trivial, tiring. Beginning at the young age of eighteen years old, for some even earlier, we begin to question what we must do for the rest of our lives. This subject may seem frightening to many, including myself. We often question ourselves “What steps must be taken in order to live a successful, meaningful life?” In Wes Moore’s book, The Work, we are provided with knowledge as well as a sense of reassurance about how we must find and fulfill “a life that matters”. “There is no guidebook to success, therefore, we all write our own.” As the Salutatorian of Sacred Heart High School’s Class of 2007, I uttered these words during my speech in hopes of inspiring my classmates. Those words certainly inspired me, as I earned one out of only four Biochemistry degrees awarded in Manhattan College four years later and, thereafter, as I advanced up the corporate ladder in my first job with Conair Corporation. However, these achievements seem minor compared to my accomplishments during my first few months with Shiseido Americas Corporation, which resulted in my fastest promotion to date.…

Standing under the familiar radiant heat, the gentle glow on my skin reminded me of the many summers I spent being complacent in Washington. However, surrounding me were kids from numerous families who knew nothing about complacency. They were always moving, always multitasking, and always working; I wondered how migrant farm worker families coped with such a restless lifestyle compared to mine. For the past four summers, I traveled with the St. Anthony Parish youth group on mission trips. Most recently, I spent the last two summers in Bellingham serving the migrant farm worker communities through the Agape Mission program.…
