The Importance of the Role of Human Resources Sergeant
The Profession of Arms is a White Paper that was established to summarize what it means to be a Profession of Arms. The principles and topics outlined within this document are comparable to those within Field Manual (FM) 1-0, Human Resources Support. The Profession of Arms teaches us that the military profession provides security to society of which is cannot provide itself. A Human Resources Sergeant provides security within the U.S. Army in many of the same ways. FM 1-0 defines the objective of Human Resources support as, “maximizing operational effectiveness of the total force by anticipating, manning, and sustaining military operations across the full spectrum …show more content…
In other words, they must ‘create and maintain their own expert knowledge and practices … apply that expertise in an external situation wherein it is requested to be applied … and after a period of time establish a relationship of trust.” (pg. 6) The Army as a whole displays these traits by having the knowledge to conduct effective offensive and defensive strategies to maintain stability and security within our society, and thereby having the trust of society in order to deploy this knowledge when required. Human Resources support within the Army develops its knowledge and expertise of all policies and procedures and applies these at all ranks in order to ‘socialize, train, educate and develop’ (pg.7) soldiers. Without the ability of Human Resources support to effectively gain the trust of their comrades and subsequently apply their expertise to maximize operational effectiveness, the Army would not be able to effectively provide security to society. Like any organization, it must be able to function and sustain itself from within before it can effectively provide services and support
