Prodromal Labor Research Paper

Prodromal labor is often defined as labor that starts and stops during the end of the third trimester and can often last for days or weeks on end. It is often defined as ‘false labor’, however, in reality, prodromal labor is an early stage of labor. Contractions during prodromal labor can increase in frequency and severity, similar to ‘true labor’, but they tend to not be regular and consistent. Unlike Braxton Hicks contractions, which can often be lightened with a cool glass of water and putting your feet up, prodromal labor can be exhausting both emotionally and physically. It is important to know that pre-term labor and prodromal labor are different, in that prodromal labor occurs when the baby has reached full term.
