In the story, “The Crucible”, the most important conflict is Proctor vs Proctor. This conflict would be man vs man because proctor needs to decide how he is going to save his good name. After he committed adultery, Proctor had to make a decision to confess to save all his friends, however, it didn’t help much when Danforth wanted a signed copy of his confession. This internal conflict really struck Proctor. Proctor has to decide how to save his good name because he said, “I have three children—how may I teach them to walk like men in the world”, (miller 207). When Proctor says this he’s ask Danforth how he is suppose to have his children be men if they have a bad name. Proctor is fighting against what he believes is right and not what the court
