Eventually, it reached the point where my late work was in, but the newer work was still being put off. As a result, I ended up missing a trip to the University of Washington. I even remember on the last day of school that I lied to my teacher about an assignment I hadn’t done yet falling out of my backpack, only to head home and finish the assignment to show my parents that I had done it. …show more content…
She would have us write an essay a week at times, and I would never meet the standards she was looking for. This especially became apparent when at one point, the entire class was required to write 7 essays in a span of 2 weeks, as well as earn a 6 on each one of those essays from the website used to score the papers before turning them in. High school to me felt no different than of the other eight years of school I had endured. The difference being, that now my grades mattered and would determine if I would go to college. For me, issues like anxiety and depression were not a problem. I had no issues getting good grades as long as I actually tried. They don’t give a crap about what is going on and are just floating in the ocean, hoping that a wave will come push them to the shore. Often times confused with being lazy, or even just plain stupid, a slacker is his or her own kind of issue.…
