I would always wait until the last minute to do everything, including studying for exams, getting to class or even finishing a simple, classroom assignments. But it really didn’t dawn on me until my high school experience was over that I had a major problem with procrastinating. Due to my own action I was unable to graduate with my class so I withdrew from school and decided to just obtain my GED. At first is seemed like it took forever to just find a school that I felt was good enough for me, and that was no easy task because I found the smallest thing to complain about. Knowing I only needed a couple credit hours to finish the course needed to complete my GED it took me six years to accomplish what should have only taken me six months to a year to complete. The first year I enroll in this program that was not only going to assist me in getting my GED, but also offer on-site job training skills. I guess it true what they say “Time flies when you’re having fun.” But by the fourth year I had pretty much had all the fun it was to have and decided that I was ready to focus on finishing what I had started and that was obtaining my GED. While everything was going to plan I was on the right track and things were on a roll only to stopped right in my tracks. Rushing and trying to hurry with any task is wrong and imprudent, that is what scheduling is for -- to be able to do the tasks in a timely and prudent manner. Further, procrastination does not involve doing the task, it is not a means of finishing the task at all, rather it is the opposite of doing the task and since this is true, it cannot be a necessary action to complete the task, since the task is not getting anywhere closer to being finished. Therefore, since procrastination is confused with another term and is not a necessary act, the conclusion cannot be…

There are many ways people define the term “laziness”. For example, as we discussed in class, we touched on how the older generations describe the younger generations as lazy due to the advances in technology that make what was once a difficult task an easy one to complete and out of jealousy. Laziness is viewed by many people as a negative characteristic to have, but after reading and analyzing Christopher Morley’s essay, we see how he views “laziness” and how he uses syntax and satire to achieve his purpose of why laziness is actually a good thing. Throughout the essay, Morley uses the literary devices to be convincing and humorous. For example, he begins the essay using satire saying “ Today we are intended to write an essay on…

Of all the movements America has gone through since its inception, I believe the realism movement best-aligns itself with who I am as a person. I believe that we, as humans, are nothing more than a collection of atoms, just like every space-occupying thing in our universe, and that we are no more significant than any other object. Most of the popular religions teach that humans are somehow “special”, and they are more important than, say, your bedside lamp; I disagree completely. This ties in directly with the accepting reality element of the realism movement.…
