This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…

Have you ever been a victim of procrastination? More than likely, it’s safe to say that everyone has procrastinated at some point in time. For some, however, this tends to become a habit. In “This Was Supposed to Be My Column for New Year’s Day”, by John Tierney, and “The Procrastination Doom Loop--and How to Break It”, by Derek Thompson, opposite opinions are shown in an attempt to defend their beliefs. Thompson’s, however, appeared as more accurate.…

Now I will reply to the objections previously raised. Reply to Objection 1: The first objector says that procrastination cannot be wrong because Jesus procrastinated. Jesus did not really procrastinate. Here, he waited those two days for a reason. Since Jesus is God, which the objector clearly states, He has reason for all his actions and does them in the correct time because He always acts in the will of His Father.…

I learned that there are three types of procrastination: doing nothing, do “something less important” (Graham p.1), or do “something more important” (Graham p.1). The good procrastination is “avoiding errand to do real work” (Graham p.1). One of the most interesting things I read was there is a risky form of procrastination, it is unrecognized because it doesn’t seem like procrastination, which is when you are “getting things done. Just the wrong things” (Graham p. 2). What Graham suggests how to avoid procrastination is deceiving yourself into doing your work.…

Richard Restak and Alexandra Samuel analyze the aspect of technology in our lives. Restak disputes in his article “Attention Deficit” that the stress to quickly process information and promptly alter our attention from one activity to another is resulting in “a devaluation of the depth and views technology as a mechanism of addressing the challenges of modern life, and offers strategies for using technology to achieve a more apprehensive and a carried out existence. Restak mainly views technology as purely negative, while Samuel addresses the optimistic outlook as far as the benefits to society. Technology isn’t the issue, it’s how we use the technology that is given to us.…

Author and blogger, Tim Urban in his 2016 TED talk, “Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator”, argues that everyone is a procrastinator. Urban’s purpose is to explain in order to prove his final point that everyone is a procrastinator to some degree. Urban explains to the general public everyone is a procrastinator. The aim of our study was to show that there a strong link between perfectionism and depression in young adults. Our key findings in our research was that the higher a participant scored on both questionnaire’s the more likely they were to display traits of perfectionism and depression in their day to day lives. Therefore our aim and hypothesis were fulfilled as our results show a strong correlation between perfectionism and depression traits. We can also support our views with previous literature such as Asseraf and Vaillancourts (2015) longitudinal research on perfectionism and depression in children. Their findings support that depressive symptoms can lead to constantly be dissatisfied with any effort what is given whether it positive or…
