In the article from The Huffington Post “No Guilt”, Margret Klaw discusses a very controversial topic, abortion. She argues that women should be allowed to be in control of their pregnancy and not the politicians running this country. She describes her experience working with women as a family law attorney and claims that she has never encountered a woman that was “traumatized” by the procedure. Kraw defends that it is a woman’s right whether or not she would like to have an abortion. The article ends very strongly by calling for the women who have had an abortion to speak up and try to save the prochoice movement. This article heavy relies on logos, pathos, kairos, and ethos to effectively win over its readers.
Logos is used very lightly in this article with only one statistic given throughout the article. In the article the author uses a few examples of women that she has talked to and their stories about their abortion. Throughout the entire paper Kraw only gives one statistic, one out of the women have an abortion in their lifetime, I would question when that survey was taken and who was in charge of the survey. However the article could’ve used more statistics and examples to be much more persuasive. I believe Kraw has a point in her defense of the prochoice movement. Women are going to try to control their pregnancies any way they have to and it would be better to provide them with the means to have a safe abortion. It’s not completely about the mother either the child from an unwanted pregnancy is likely to be abused and blamed for many of the parents’ problems. I would rather have the child have a fulfilling life than to force it into a situation which could be harmful and
