Process Group Reflection Paper

Starting this semester, I was feeling excited to know how counseling groups work and what kind of groups there are in diverse fields. Also, I was enthusiastic to be in a process group with my classmates that I spent the last semester with. Last time I had process group, was with students from different cohorts that I did not have any connection. This semester, being in a process group with classmates of my same clinical group was a great and unique experience. At the beginning of this class, I felt that it would be hard for me to express myself and find my voice during the process group. I have always been a shy and reserved person when it comes to talk about my experiences and feelings with new people that I do not trust. It was hard to start sharing everything with the group, but I was proud of myself when I found my voice and start trusting my classmates during this process. Last semester I was feeling sad seeing I was not connecting with any of my classmates and even felt lonely at school. I was going to my classes and then going back to my house without having many conversations with any of my classmates. It was a surprise for me that this semester was …show more content…
I feel that it is hard for me because I try to respect others and listen to what they are feeling or just sharing. I always put others before me and that this is the reason for not interrupting. Now, I know that it is a satisfying action listening to people, but it is also important to share what I am feeling or thinking. This semester I started to find my confidence while sharing what I have in mind. I will keep thinking of others, but I will try not to forget about myself and share even if I need to interrupt someone. I know that in a session I will have to interrupt my client to reflect and help them better, but I need to start now practicing that in my life and in

In attempt to develop range in my observation of support groups, I once again found myself returning to an old stomping ground. Throughout my years in high school, I dedicated several hours a week to my local church in a growth group for high school girls. Although I currently experience mixed emotions with religion, I recalled how influential it was during my teenaged years to have such support, convincing me to return to observe a group to identify ways in why it was so helpful for me during difficult moments in my life. Luckily, my previous growth group leader was still leading groups and graciously accepted my request to be a guest that following week. Meeting once a week, the purpose of these groups was to discuss the Bible and life issues, but based on personal experience, these groups offered much more than a few life lectures.…

Group work -through my experiences- can be good if you are having fun, staying on task, and everyone does their part. Some examples of how this could possibly be beneficial are life skills, lessening stress, and making the class/project more enjoyable. As I discuss how group work causes more help than harm I hope you take my criteria in consideration in later classes. Group work can teach people many real life skills. Such as Communication, compromise, and cooperation - which can help someone throughout life when meeting new people, understanding others differing opinions, or dealing with annoying people just throughout life-.…

Whether that be graduating early or interacting within a group I thought I had nothing in common with. I began powerlifting in the fall of my freshman year and it has significantly shaped who I’ve become, but not without experiencing hardship. Being sore wasn’t my only issue, for finding myself within a diverse group was quite possibly the hardest task.…

In every group, structured or not, the group process has many effects on the overall group. This paper will look at the group processes of our cohort, the interactions between subgroups, and the way that it has affected the overall distance learning cohort. It will look at themes which have played out during our most recent trip to campus, namely subgroups formed, as well as the difference in anxiety levels between the foundation and concentration groups and the behaviors that were demonstrated. Next it will identify and discuss instances of here-and-now moments within the groups and consider the process commentary that we saw emerge and reflect on possible meanings for it. Finally it will depict how the groups illustrated the concepts of…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…
