Fluency will sometimes be described as, the ability to process written texts accurately and automatically, with appropriate comprehension (Rasinski, Samuels, Hievert, Petscher, & Feller 2014). Word reading skills are a critical step to becoming a good reader. At all grade levels students will come into our classrooms at different achieved levels of reading abilities. Teacher guided practices and direct instruction in word study and fluency will improve each student individually at their own pace.
