Reinstating the military draft is a topic that creates a lot of discussion. The military draft is a system that requires individuals between eighteen and twenty five years old to enlist and serve in the military if eligible to join the service after assessment. Drafted men and women undergo months of training and are sent to wars or assigned to designations in the military. Reinstating the military draft is beneficial because national security is assured, the opportunity to reduce the unemployment rate, the chance to build one’s character, and the ability to create equality is possible.
The military draft ensures that there will be enough soldiers to fight in the time of war. It is best to have other soldiers to replace those who will be injured or killed in battle and a military draft can make this possible. The military draft gives everyone the opportunity to go to war when the time is necessary. Women are able to receive the same treatment that men received back from 1930 to 1973.
