Each position has different concepts and responsibilities. My main positions were pitcher and first base, but I have helped out and played other positions as well because I had learned the skills.
When being an infielder you need to be quick and on high alert and also have good communication, everyone on the field needs to be communicating with one another so everyone knows what is going on. You must be quick on your feet to get to the ball and always be ready because you never know what direction the ball is going to go in. Hand eye coordination is also key as an infielder, getting the ball and knowing were it needs to go as soon as you get it is important in any position.
Next I took on the role of learning the skills of the outfield. For sometime in my softball career I played left field and occasionally right filed. One key thing to being an outfielder is having a very strong throwing arm, as well as being good with your feet you. When learning outfield, I had to have a good throwing arm, which I got better at with practice. Also foot work is important, the way I learned you don’t always have time to plant your feet so my coach taught us a “running hop throw” as he would call
