#1 Find A Vet
The first thing you need to do is find a vet for your puppy. You are going to want to take your new puppy to the vet right away to get their health checked up on. You are going to need for your puppy to get the first round of their necessary vaccinations. Try to find a vet that you like and could see yourself working with for a while; this is the start of a long relationship.
#2 Get A Kennel
Second, you are going to need a way to transport your puppy from its old home to your new home. The safest way to transport your dog in the car is with a kennel. You are going to want to purchase a small kennel for your dog so that you can safely get your dog home and to the vet.
#3 Purchase Identification …show more content…
You don’t have to know your puppies name yet. This ID tag should contain your contact information so that if your puppy gets lost, it can be returned to you easily.
Once you know what your puppies name is going to be, you can get an updated ID tag or you can get the other side of the ID bag engraved with the puppy’s name on it for a more accurate identification bag.
#4 Pick Up Puppy Food
You need to pick up some dog food for your puppy. Puppy dog food is different than dog food for adults. You may want to ask and see what type of puppy food your dog was being feed before you picked them up. Your puppy may also enjoy milk or broth put on their food to make it softer and easier to eat.
#5 Make Your Home Safe
You need to puppy proof your home. Put away all food, especially any chocolates and sweet treats, which can be really harmful for your puppy. Pick up all items off your floor; puppies love to chew on things, so don’t leave anything out for your puppy to chew on. If you have any cords, hang them up or tape them up so that your puppy can’t chew on
