Stepping onto the pitch, the fans roar, the immense buildup of anxiousness in your body and the game begins. You think you are ready to play yet you haven’t prepared. Before you play in this soccer game, you must be well prepared to maximize how successful you are during the game. Your preparation for the game actually starts 24 hours before the game even starts. These little steps and precautionary measures set apart the good players from the great. Therefore, playing outstanding during a soccer game won't just happen automatically, there are multiple steps you must perform before your game even starts, that can make you play significantly better. Nerves are an extremely large part of the game. They can make or break a player. For example, when the completion is very high, everyone has talent. It is not a matter of who is better but who can use their mental preparation to their advantage. Especially at the professional level, the nerves can be tremendous with tens of thousands of people watching you. Additionally, when I was put into my first varsity game, the nerves almost overtook me. There were over a hundred people in the stands and I was a freshman. Although I calmed myself and just played the best of my ability, therefore, making me successful. Furthermore, strategies that are used by professionals to calm their nerves are, for example, visualization. If you are able to visualize what ideally you would like to happen in the game it can get you closer to your goal. Lastly, music can be a benefactor to your game. Various studies have shown that the body’s emotional state in which you are listening to music can be transferred into a physical reaction. That means if you are listening to music that can get you hyped it can transfer to a better physical game and actually make you play
