I think a major problem that affects our law enforcement system is the polarized view that people have towards the police. Recently, I was talking to a friend and they said they supported Black Lives Matter and because of this they were anti-police. A thought that occurred in my head was “Why can’t we be both?”. I said this and my friend didn’t know how to respond to my question, and we were just silent for a minute. I explained to them that Black Lives Matter is an important cause and that I wholly support them, but the lives of police officer are important as well.
