Problems and prospects of surrogate pregnancy

Surrogate pregnancy is a woman who becomes pregnant usually by artificial insemination or surgical implantation of a fertilized egg for the purpose of carrying the fetus to term for another woman. There are two types of a surrogate pregnancy, the first type is traditional surrogate which is a woman who gets artificially inseminated with the father 's sperm. The second type is Gestational surrogates in which by using a technique called in vitro fertilization (IVF) now makes it possible to gather eggs from the mother, fertilize it with sperm from the father, and place the embryo into the uterus of a gestational surrogate. Surrogate pregnancy gives the hope for many infertile couples having a baby, which is their ultimate dream. However, there 's still some controversy about using a surrogate mother to have a baby, it gives rise to many legal, ethical, religious, emotional and social issues. If a surrogate mother is compensated for her services beyond reimbursement of medical expenses this is called a commercial surrogate. In contrast to commercial surrogacy, non-commercial surrogacy involves an arrangement where the intended parents use the services of a family member or a friend. In the last one, the surrogate’s compensation supposedly consists in the satisfaction she derives from giving the gift of a new human life to people for whom she personally cares.
