The Real Problem of Teen Pregnancy in New Orleans In the past decade, people have been more oblivious to teen pregnancy. They act as if teen pregnancy is normal. This is very hard to accept by others, because the scene of a young girl or a young boy desperately pleading to get an opportunity to undo the "mistake" they have made upon themselves and their future. This is completely opposite of how people choose to carelessly accept the truth of how teen pregnancy affects others nationally, and most importantly, locally. Whether pregnant teens need a little help or a lot, many officials feel that there isn 't a need for sex education or proper guidance. The more money spent on taking care of pregnant teens, the more awareness it brings to the major issue. The huge incline in teenage pregnancy is the elephant in the room where government money is spent less on the prevention of teen pregnancy, so that young girls and boys can fit back into society. Only 2 out of 8 congressional representatives are Democrats. This means that they 're willing to look past the minority and give the majority the opportunity to keep teenage pregnancy hidden. Many young ladies are not provided sexual education in order for them to learn how to prevent themselves from taking risks. In Louisiana there are many different laws saying that sexual education is not the best education to teach at home. School administrators should take advantage of informing teens that abstinence is a very effective way of completely avoiding unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and other related health issues (Louisiana Public Health Institution). Teens are getting sick and attracting diseases from not being safe while having sex. This is from young ladies not being properly educated and this is what the government and the department are trying to fix.
