A problem in our community is littering. It’s a problem because people don’t care about our community and thinks it’s alright to litter. People in our community litter because they’ll be driving down the road and don’t want to put it in their car so they will just throw it out the window. When they could just put it on their back floor if they have a car or in the bed of their truck if they have a truck. Most people think it’s alright to litter because they don’t think it harms anything. I mean it doesn’t hurt people driving past it and seeing it. But it does end up hurting people’s health in the long run. Littering is bad for our environment because it makes a mess of our community. Littering ends up being a problem

In the introduction to his book, Garbology: Our Dirty Love Affair with Trash, the Pulitzer prize-winning author Edward Humes lays out our trash and asks us to sort through it, examining how we came to be so wasteful. In his introduction, Humes argues that trash is a huge problem in the U.S and that we Americans are obsessed with it. Through use of descriptive words, showing of authority on the subject through ethos, and brilliant pathos in his argument, Humes correctly implies that trash is a big problem that can be solved and we can do something about…

In No Impact Man, Colin Beavan discusses many important topics, one of which is about trash. This topic got my interest because we see it everywhere, Colin goes into detail and discusses a lot of facts about it. An interesting observation was made regarding the black color of trash bags, that the reason trash bags are black instead of transparent is because people do not or cannot deal with seeing what is inside of them. Another related topic that always gets my concerns is recycling our waste. There are a lot of people that don’t recycle and just don’t care.…

A pair of chopsticks lie beside the sushi as if someone were preparing to ingest it. In blue, capitalized, and printed largely on the ad, it states, “What goes in the ocean goes in you” (Surfrider).…
