I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: Did you know that there are 827.7 million people worldwide living in urban slam? By 2020, it is estimated the world slum population will reach almost 1 billion. This is very shocking to me.
B. Audience Relevance: Today I will discuss about an organization that is changing millions of lives by giving the opportunity of owning an affordable and simple houses to those who are struggling. This organization is Habitat for Humanity.
C. Speaker Credibility: Over the past years, I had a chance to volunteer with habitat for humanity by building a house for veteran, low-income individuals and people with disabilities.

Sub point 1: But there are those that are even worse than that. According to End Homelessness, in January 2014, there were 578,000 people experiencing homelessness on any given night in the United States. Of that number, 216,000 are people in families, 362,000 are individuals and about 9 percent of homeless people - 49,933 - are veterans.
Transition (signpost, summary, preview): Now I have gone over a few problems, lets examine habitat for humanity and its effort to reduce these issues.
G. Main Point 2: Habitat for humanity is a non-profit organization that provides “simple, adequate, and affordable housing to those living in poverty.
1. Sub point 1: According to their website, habitat was found in the 1976 by Linda and Millard Fuller. Since then habitat has built or repaired more than 1 million homes with people in need of decent and affordable shelter.
2. Sub point 2: Habitat for humanity is a Christian based organization. They accept people from all background, all culture and all religion. This organization is “driven by the desire to give tangible expression to God’s love through the work of eliminating poverty housing.”
