1. Probation is a sentence of imprisonment that is suspended. It is a court ordered period of correctional supervision in the community. It is an alternative to incarceration. One of the purposes of probation is help rehabilitate criminal offenders without the use of jail time. It also is a low cost sentence that saves money for the community.
2. Parole is a period of conditional supervised release in the community following prison. Also known as supervised release from prison. Probation and parole differ in one big way. Probation is an alternative to jail whereas, parole is a part of jail (requires jail time).
3. Both parole and probation officers supervise offenders of the law. Probation officers ensure people on probation fulfill
