It takes a lot for a Probation officer to revoke the probation from a probationer. The probationer has to have broken the law in order to get sent back to jail. If the probationers treatment efforts are unsuccessful, Probation officers are expected to minimize the harm caused by the probationers ' continued criminal behavior by petitioning judges to revoke their probation, which can result in incarceration (Lurigio,& Snowden, 2009). The success of a probationer is all on the shoulders of the probationer not the Probation Officer. It is the job of the probationer to maintain the duties they are responsible of, such as following the rules of their Probation officer no matter the situation they are given. A probationer is given a second to redeem themselves for the crime they have committed with probation and they should not take advantage of the opportunity they are given.
It is not clear that probation advocates fully appreciate the significant impact of the system, however, courts, legislators and scholars have devoted almost no attention to analyzing the conditions of probation that are routinely imposed on probationers in different states year after year (Doherty, 2016)
