Pro Tennis Research Paper

I’m a competitive tennis player and I am preparing to play one high school teams this spring(even though I am only an 8th grader). I constantly want to improve, but I wasn’t sure how to do that. I train three times a week and matches every Saturday, but I didn’t do anything else. I know that tennis is a very mentally demanding game, same goes for physically. The best players in the world win because they are in great shape and because they break their opponents mentally. I also know that anything can happen when after hitting the ball, but I wanted to know what to eat, if there was anything else I should do except to go to practices. I wanted to know what it took to become a pro tennis player. I want to know how to improve spin on my ground …show more content…
Those are the steps I am following in my tennis journey.
My main goal by the end of this paper was to become a better tennis player, but researching showed me that tennis isn’t only about being good with your strokes, it's about having composure during a match, and masking sure that people see that tennis isn’t only a sport for the rich, but for everyone. At the beginning I just wanted to know how to improve, but I found way more things than I expected, I found stuff about the new tech, and the cost of becoming a pro player. It really surprised

I found way more than expected, and I really don’t know where to start about it. Let’s start with rackets. There is so much new stuff in rackets. Like Babolat, a French tennis company has created this racket called the babolat “play”. It’s a racket with smart sensors that track the speed, spin, and movement of your strokes. It comes in both the Pure DRive model(my racket of choice, but without the sensors), or the Pure Aero model. This is a really cool feature that is coming in a lot more rackets. But it does cost money, and average to end racket cost around 200$ but with the sensors installed it cost about 320$, at least that is what it said on Babolat’s website. If you want to track your progress but don’t have the money to afford a smart racket, also sensors can be bought, they clip to the bottom of your racket, or can act as a vibration dampener. Their prices range from 25$-200$, which is much cheaper than the smart racket, but for some specific models, like Sony’s Smart Tennis Sensor, custom sensor buttcaps that can open up are required to attach the sensor. This is made on some racket models from some racket brands, but not all sensors need custom but caps. The last thing about new rackets is there materials. Head, the american tennis company, came up with a metal like substance called graphene. This “graphene” is much stronger than steel, but only a fraction of the weight. When head introduced graphene to the

It is from my dedicated to tennis that has shaped my love for the sport. Tires crunched on the loose gravel parking lot as I was dropped off at my high school’s tennis courts on the first day of school. With my high school requiring a year of physical education, I opted to take the lifetime sport for I was nervous to compete for a spot on the highly competitive teams my school was known for. I was met at the court by 30 other freshmen with a mixed variety of expertise spanning from the first time to ever hold a racquet to a district ranked player. The district ranked player’s father, Mr. Weaver, was a sophomore chemistry teacher who happened to play tennis professionally in his heyday. Mr. Weaver volunteered to teach the freshman tennis team and to train them the basics before they were transferred to “the real…

My freshman year, I decided to try out for my high school’s junior varsity tennis team. The tryouts went smoothly, and I joined the team. I did well at practice, but during our first match, I let the mental pressure get to me, and I choked. I was moved to a low position on the roster and did not qualify to play in many of the matches, which was very frustrating. At the end of the season, my coach told me that I was not good enough to be on the team the following year.…

My life is brimming with numerous wonders; however, there are a few aspects concerning my life that I believe have made the biggest impacts on my personality, and me as an individual. Those aspects include my athleticism, my desire to learn, and my work ethic. I am an aspiring tennis player, and through my athleticism, I have trained and thrived for what I wanted in both my physical stature, as well as my physical capabilities on the tennis court. As a result of my physical training, I am able to endure matches that may go on for prolonged interludes of time. Additionally, I am capable of withstanding points where I am running from one precinct of the court to another, and sometimes win the point as well.…

One of the most important preparations is an athlete’s confidence. Self-confidence is “belief in one’s powers and a state of assurance exuded by every great athlete, such as Michael Jordan, Jack Nicklaus, Roger Clemens, Wayne Gretzky, Nadia Comaneci, and Serena Williams” (Leith, 2008, p. 18). These great athletes all believe in their skills and abilities, which is considered a good thing in competitive sports. Confidence, many times, is the difference between being a good athlete or the best athlete, the difference between failure and…
