The cost of chemotherapy in a hospital is about $66,826 a year. Hospice care can cost up to $10,000 a month while the cost of life-ending drugs ranges from $400-$3000. $3000 for one prescription sounds excessive but in the end, it would be cheaper than the monthly cost of a hospice care. A report from Dartmouth Institute states that it costs anywhere from $35,000 to $90,000 for the last two years of a patient’s life. Along with the emotional stressors, the price of care adds more unnecessary stress to the patient. PAS is a great option for patients who choose it, but it also benefits the patient with the price. When talking from an economic standpoint PAS gives the patient a choice on how to spend their money. PAS can save the patient money which can benefit them and their families because, in the end, the money they save from not choosing the end of life care can go towards other expenses. Therefore alleviating financial stressors off the patient and family, allowing them to focus on being together in the patient's last months of their
