Pro Life's Arguments Against Abortion

Abortions are one of the most controversial topics debated, with their being two sides: “pro-life” or “pro-choice”. Pro-life advocates argue that an abortion is a woman's right to choose, and women should be able to make decisions that involve their body and health. Pro-life advocates argue that an abortion is considered murder, with the reason being that an unborn child is living, fully human, helpless and voiceless while developing inside the womb (K, Brown). Although countless individuals feel that abortions should be a woman's right to choose, abortions should be illegal altogether because it denies and deprives the rights of life, can result in medical complications and psychological trauma for women, and because of the fact that a fetus is capable of feeling pain. Life is something that is valued by most people, with life flourishing at the moment of conception, because a life is a life whether outside of the womb or not. According to the Victoria state government, by the time a fetus is eight weeks old they develop the start of a central nervous system, which contains nerves that can sense and feel, with the fetus also having a stable and developing heartbeat. So not only does the child have a heartbeat and brain activity forming and broadening as days pass, but they are also capable of feeling pain. In our society it's not acceptable to kill any other class except major criminals (K, Brown), but every year millions of innocent lives are diminished. Some individuals even go as far as stating abortions are a form of child abuse because the baby endures pain and suffering on the account of others. So, the mothers who terminate the pregnancies of their unborn children receive no sort of punishment for killing an innocent, helpless
