The social commentary on women’s reproductive health is full of contradictions. As our readings point out, even using pro-life vs. pro-choice rhetoric doesn’t really allow women their inherent rights to their bodies (RWL 53). Contradictions are present when pro-life advocates are in favor of the death penalty and not in favor abortion even when the mother’s life is at risk, implying one life more valuable than the other. Though many feel pro-life advocates are determining whose life is more valuable, it’s important to remember that they believe they are protecting the most innocent form of life.
