As any social issue, abortions are one of the many topics that everyone seems to have an opinion on. According to the 2012 Merriam-Webster dictionary, an abortion is, “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation--miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by a domestic animal often due to infection at any time before completion of pregnancy.” (Elliot) Abortions; like every controversial issue, will most likely never be agreed upon by the human race. According to the “Fetal Homicide Laws” that was signed by President George Washington it is against the law to injure a pregnant or her fetus. Still questions arise because to this day killing a human being is a homicide, but when it comes to aborting the life of an infant and possibly harming the mother in the future, it is fully legal. Therefore, what is considered homicide? Critics argue that if abortion is illegal, that would violating the rights of woman, others argue that this would be violating the rights of an unborn fetus. Still through all the evidence proven, there is still some turned heads as to why abortion is murder. A criminal should not get away with murder, or murder of a pregnant woman. Therefore, a selfish woman who took sex as a game should not get away with aborting her child because that would make her a murderer. Nevertheless, the abortion of fetuses is still being argued in the sense that they have no relevance in this life, which is why it is not illegal. Similarly, it is said that it is the mother’s choice because it all boils down to morals. Why should a mother believe in someone else’s morals and beliefs? In the end, its humanity and it is inhumane to murder, whichever way it is
