Remember the recent mass shooting of 2016 in a Gay Nightclub in Orlando, Florida? What about the shooting in San Bernardino, California by a married couple? According to LA Times, there has been 10 major mass shooting in the United States since 2012 to present time. Gun control is a hot topic considering the happenings of several recent tragic mass shooting in the United States. Therefore, it means it tends to divide people, and this is evident on how the citizens of US have failed to settle on the best way to handle the issue. However, they fail to recognize or mention the many instances of accidents when innocent citizens have been hurt when the shooter did not intend to so. Being against gun control is like saying that you no longer trust the law enforcement agencies and that they should be scrapped out of the system so that everyone can fend for themselves. Further, the argument appears to oppose the existence of governments because the governments exist to govern people through agencies and have the constitution as a guide. Guns should be controlled and laws that grant individual to own guns tighten. Regulations on gun control are a necessary measure and step that will result in saving so many lives in the long run (Jones and Stone 167). The author further argues that the number of people who would have been killed could have been worse had the civilians carrying guns had not been around.
