The death penalty is a controversial topic in the U.S. Some states have the death penalty while other states do not. There are more pros than cons when it comes to why the death penalty should be implemented in cases that involve heinous acts such as murder and like crimes. such crimes are especially heinous and deserve the worst punishment able to be given.
Justice must be served for the families of victims of heinous acts much like rape and/or murder, the death penalty will help the victim or the victims family peace of mind knowing that the criminal is now taken off the streets and has no prosibility on returning to society. This gives not only them the feelig of saftey again but everyone in the community. By the criminal being sentenced to death this give the criminal no possible chance of harming anyone else or commit any further crimes.the proper justice would be served for the crimes committed.

Mostly murderers are on death row just living out the remander of their lives in a small cell. Living out the rest of your life in a small cell until you die is torture. Now some murderers completley deserve this treatment for whatever evil acts they have commited. In California's notorious San Quentin prison, there is seven-hundred prisoners on death row. Since the death penalty was reinstated in 1977 in California only thirteen prisoners have been executed, while on the other hand twenty-two prisoners have committed suicide. A New York study showed that inmates in solitary confinement are five times more likley to commit suicide than other inmates in general population.
