Euthanasia is known as assisted suicide and is a very controversial topic in the United States at this time. This means physician-assisted suicide and means to take a deliberate action with the intention of ending a life to relieve suffering of an individual (Nordqvist, 2016). It is an extremely debated topic and has lots of components in the argument. One of the biggest places debates are taking place right now is the state governments. There are two main types of Euthanasia, including voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary is when the patient gives consent to end their life, but involuntary is when someone else made the decision because the patient is not capable of making the choice for themselves. It also could potentially help family members follow someone 's living will if they decided they want to end their life because family members ultimately may not have a say in what decision is made. It can make it easier on them by not allowing them to make the decision, even though it is extremely difficult no matter what decision is made. Euthanasia can demonstrate respect for the patient’s well-being rather than making them suffer and it can allow them to have some dignity while dying. Some of the cons is that euthanasia can downgrade and devalue human life as a whole. Some people may say physicians should not be involved in helping people commit suicide at all, they may argue that doctors are supposed to help cure us and provide medical support for us.
