Ever since ancient times there has been a need for private security. Security was needed due to fighting and conflict, raiding and looting by groups and individuals. In an effort avoid and lessen the loss of life and belongings, military personnel and other appointed persons were employed to fulfill jobs as night watchmen to uphold order and protect against losses and attacks.
